Navigate to Appearance &gt; Customize &gt; Site Identity to determine what\u2019s recommended. If no optimal dimensions are provided, a logo size of approximately 250 x 100 px is generally accepted as the standard.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Below I outline the logo display size recommendations for some of the most popular WordPress themes. If it appears &#8220;off&#8221; or not up to your standards, continue to adjust the display size until it appears optically optimal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#ffffe6\"><strong>Pro Tip<\/strong>: Jared Bauman, a former pro photographer and now <a href=\"https:\/\/weekendgrowth.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">blogging at Weekend Growth<\/a>, has a lot of experience working with images and logos on websites. &#8220;If possible, use a JPG for your logo. PNG&#8217;s are typically five times larger and can slow down your website.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How To Change Your Logo Display Size In WordPress<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Something that&#8217;s important to remember is your <em>logo image file size<\/em> is not the same thing as your <em>logo display size<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#d9f2e9\">In fact, for most themes, <strong>it is best to upload an image file size that is twice the dimensions of your target display size<\/strong>. Following this simple process will sharpen your image quality, making your logo look crisp and professional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is particularly important these days given that retina-ready logos, geared towards Apple devices with <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Retina_display\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Retina Display<\/a>, can now be added to many themes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Method 1: Site Identity Theme Editor<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you are ready to adjust you logo display size, select <strong>Appearance <\/strong>from the WordPress main dashboard and then select <strong>Customize <\/strong>&gt; <strong>Site Identity<\/strong>. <em>Depending on your selected theme, instead of Site Identity you may see &#8216;Header&#8217; or &#8216;Site Title &amp; Logo&#8217;.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you haven&#8217;t already uploaded the appropriately sized logo image size to your WordPress media library, you can do so now by selecting <strong>Change logo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-base-2-background-color has-background\">We use and recommend the Premium version of the <a href=\"https:\/\/generatepress.com\/?ref=7921\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">GeneratePress theme<\/a>, which also has a Retina Logo upload option. This is important, otherwise your logo would appear distorted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Method 2: Additional CSS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If your specific theme does not offer the ability to customize the logo dimensions within the theme editor, you can use the &#8216;Additional CSS&#8217; method instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Head over to your website&#8217;s homepage, right click anywhere on the screen, and select <strong>Inspect<\/strong>. Next, within the Inspect pop-up window, click the <strong>cursor icon<\/strong> in the top left corner and then hover your mouse over your logo.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"338\" src=\"https:\/\/nichetwins.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Inspect-logo-image.png\" alt=\"Use the inspect tool to determine the file name of your logo image.\" class=\"wp-image-6445\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nichetwins.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Inspect-logo-image.png 800w, https:\/\/nichetwins.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Inspect-logo-image-300x127.png 300w, https:\/\/nichetwins.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Inspect-logo-image-768x324.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>By doing so, the &#8220;CSS class&#8221; of the logo image file for your specific theme will appear. As you can see, our logo CSS class for GeneratePress is &#8220;img.is-logo-image&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We can now add some custom code around this class to override and change the logo dimensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do so, go back to the WordPress dashboard and select<strong> Appearance <\/strong>&gt;<strong> Customize <\/strong>&gt; <strong>Additional CSS<\/strong>. Finally, copy the code below and paste it into the Additional CSS open code field. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Be sure to replace &#8220;img.is-logo-image&#8221; with whatever CSS class is associated with your logo file.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-base-2-background-color has-background\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p>img.is-logo-image { <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>     max-height: 100px !important; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>}<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>When you are done with the update, click <strong>Publish<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once again, you&#8217;ll need to use some trial and error by incrementally changing the &#8220;100px&#8221; height to get your logo to appear exactly the way you want it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Final Word<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Many popular WordPress themes have a recommended or default logo size that you can use as a guide for your website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If no dimensions are provided by your selected theme, <strong>start with a logo display size of 250 x 100 px. <\/strong>You can then make further adjustments from here as needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most themes allow you to change the logo display size within the <em>theme customizer<\/em>.
